Hout Bay Manor – AN EXCITING AFRICAN EXPERIENCE
The Hout Bay Manor, built in 1871, is renowned as one of Cape Town’s
most graceful landmarks. The beautifully restored Hout Bay Manor offers 20
individually designed en suite rooms and a sophisticated fine dining restaurant
named ‘Pure’.
Hout Bay Manor, protected by century old oak trees, was built from stone (600mm
thick walls) and in traditional Cape Colonial style by Jacob Trautmann on
an unspoilt piece of land, which had previously been part of the Kronendal
Estate.
2006 saw the start of an 18 month refurbishment that was completed in October
2007 to recapture the charm and beauty of this original home, in a vibrant
African culture style.
The hotel officially reopened on 26 October 2007. The breathtaking restyled
Pavilion is now a contemporary fine dining restaurant, named ‘Pure’,
under the auspices of German born Executive Chef Alexander Mueller.
Hout Bay Manor has preserved the history and heritage while infusing the interiors
with Zulu and Xhosa chic décor to celebrate the vibrant pulse of South
Africa.
The owners love for Africa, it’s people and culture is reflected in
the bold colours and superior fabrics, complemented by exquisite unique pieces
that have been used to create ‘a jewellery box of gems’ to offset
the mellow ambience of the original interiors by renowned South African interior
designers, Cécile and Boyd’s.
On the ground level guests find an opulent open plan lounge and bar area,
a tribute to style, Zulu and Xhosa grace. A designer marble bar offers guests
the opportunity to interact with fellow travellers or spend quiet time reading
a great novel from the library.
Select a fine Cape wine from the extensive hand picked wine collection or
relax by the cosy fireplace.

Rooms & Suites:
The Hout Bay Manor offers four charming types of rooms. The Zulu rooms, the
Xhosa
rooms, the Sotho rooms and the Sangoma rooms.
The Sotho:
Double Rooms with a private garden terrace and a refreshing alfresco shower.
The Xhosa:
Double Rooms upstairs with a breathtaking mountain view
The Zulu:
Double Rooms upstairs with a picturesque view of the exquisite garden and
the sparkling pool.
The Sangoma:
2 Luxury rooms adjacent to each other offer balconies overlooking the pool
and the garden area. These two rooms can also be used as a family apartment
with a separate entrance.
All rooms offer safes, plasma screen satellite televisions, telephones and
air conditioning as well as internet and wireless.
Immerse yourself in the finest bed linen, soft towels and designer bathroom
products all there to make your stay at the Manor unforgettable. A complimentary
fruit basket and homemade cookies are placed in the rooms.
Reception/Concierge:
Luxury African charm is reflected in the ambience, décor and team spirit
of the staff. Cordial hospitality is what you will experience during your
stay at Hout Bay Manor where our highly specialised team will personally assist
you and do their utmost to ensure that
your stay exceeds your expectations from the very beginning.
Transfers to and from Cape Town International Airport can be arranged with
the Hotel’s shuttle service.
There are many interesting historical, nature, sport and leisure activities
available within close proximity to the Hotel and in the greater Cape Town
area. Our reception team of tourism professionals can provide detailed information
and indeed arrange reservations and transport for you to experience any of
these activities.
Conference room with secretarial services:
The intimate function room (up to 12 delegates) is adjacent to the reception
desk and has a private tea garden with a bubbling fountain. The venue is ideal
for private functions, board meetings, presentations or candlelight dinners.

Dining at Hout Bay Manor is a new experience for culinary aficionados with
an extensive menu of signature dishes. Enjoy dining in the restaurant or outside
on the terrace.
Breakfast is served from 07:30 – 10:30 for hotel guests only
Throughout the day guests can enjoy an assortment of healthy salads, sandwiches
and light snacks prepared by our Executive Chef using only the finest ingredients,
many of which are organic based. An a la carte lunch is served in the Restaurant,
on the pool terrace or in our idyllic tea garden under unique Zulu style umbrellas.
‘Pure’ – the fine dining restaurant:
The gourmet restaurant ‘PURE’ is the Hout Bay Manor’s highlight
for those wishing to indulge in an evening of gourmet delights; the exquisite
service epitomises fine culture. 2007 sees the launch of ‘Pure’
the creation of the Executive Chef whose culinary
philosophy is simply – ‘a fusion of purity’. Pure seats
58 guests in style amidst a tranquil palette of creams, whites, marble and
fine art.
Opening times are:
Dinner: 18h30 to 22h30 from Tuesday-Saturdays
Lunch: 12h00 to 15h00 Sunday only
All meals are designed exclusively with the finest local ingredients sourced
by our Executive Chef.
Inzolo Wellness Suite – Calmness, Peace, Tranquillity:
The Inzolo Wellness Suite complements the existing architecture, feel, relaxing
ambience and unique interior décor the Manor has become renowned for.
Its philosophy has always been to nurture the senses and to promote the rejuvenating,
healing energy of Africa in the picturesque setting of Hout Bay.
Indulge yourself with our menu of massage, facials and other pampering therapies
in our Inzolo Wellness Suite. Some of the treatments offered are – the
‘Hydra Boost Facial’, ‘For Men Only Facial’, which
includes acupressure, manicures, pedicures, ‘Total
Pureness’ exfoliation and body polish and the ‘Fragrant Relaxation’
– a unique blend of pure essential massage oils for specific individual
needs. The products are based on an inspirational blend of indigenous African
plants made into creams, lotions and oils with all their beneficial healing
properties. Treatments include full day packages as well as 60 or 90 minutes
beauty and body treatments lasting up to 120 minutes. Alternatively some treatments
can be done in the privacy of your own room.
Pool / Alfresco pool showers:
The peaceful setting and beautiful surroundings of the pool area ensure guests
are able to relax, de-stress and experience a transcendent feeling of well-being.
Gardens:
Relax under magnificent old oak trees in the tranquil setting of the indigenous
private garden that has been returned to its original glory whilst complementing
the new look of the Manor.
Unwind with your favourite novel or learn about the incredible history of
South Africa under the shade of bespoke Zulu style umbrellas.
Leisure:
Stroll to the nearby bustling village with its quaint shops, bistro’s
and restaurants; spend a day at the beach or visit the working fishing harbour
– immerse yourself in the history and culture of Hout Bay. Drive along
the breathtaking Chapman’s Peak Drive to Noordhoek and Cape Point, or
towards Table Mountain, the City centre and V&A Waterfront, which are
just 30 minutes away.
Experience the wonders of the Cape and explore the Cape Winelands or the magnificent
Karoo. Tailor made tours of Cape Town can be arranged on your behalf through
the hotel reception.
Unfortunately pets are not permitted in the hotel.
